The SSL Certificate (Secure Sockets Layer Certificate) is a booming business for the web hosting company Godaddy and it’s not showing any signs of decline. Godaddy, one of the largest domain name registrars and web hosting providers, currently issues about 50% of all new SSL certificates.
In December, Go Daddy issued twice as many SSL certificates than any other website hosting company and almost three times the amount of VeriSign.
Even one of the biggest names in the computer-related industry, Microsoft, has chosen GoDaddy as their preferred SSL provider.
“You must have a secure Web site to do online business,” said GoDaddy Founder and CEO Bob Parsons. “Companies now know that they can get a top quality SSL from GoDaddy for a fraction of the regular cost.”
“Go Daddy SSL Certificates offer the same functionality and security as our competition, but GoDaddy’s cost significantly less.” Mr Parsons added.
SSL provides Web site security through encryption and it keeps company information and financial transactions secure. Online buyers will see the “https” prefix and the padlock icon when buying online in safe web sites.
